Action 4 Rhinos was formed in February 2024 to champion Rhino conservation in Uganda.
Rhinos are the second heaviest land mammals. Both Eastern Black and Northern White Rhino Sub-species lived in Uganda. There were about 350 White Rhinos in 1954 but were declared locally extinct by 1993. The two species are endangered and critically endangered respectively with only 2 (two) Northen White Rhinos left in the world.
The National Rhino Conservation & Management strategy (2017 – 2027) supports efforts to establish and recover Northern White within former range states as well as the introduction of Eastern Black Rhinos. WE work with partners to repopulate rhinos in Uganda and save them from extinction.
Rhinos were initially over 30 species in the beginning. Today, 5 species are left and most of these are facing extinction. Had it not been the magical wonders of education, all our rhino species would be extinct by now.
The Uganda Wildlife Act 2019 recognizes Wildlife se rights including wildlife farming. Action 4 Rhinos is a champion of game ranching in Uganda, a trade that the majority of the citizens are not aware of. We believe this enhances wildlife habitats while promoting ecotourism for the benefit of citizens and wildlife.
Our Action 4 Rhinos Founder David Bakeine is a Tourism veteran and a Wildlife conservation enthusiast. He holds a diploma and Degree in Tourism and has been in Conservation and the Tourism industry for 24 years.
